HURIDAC LAUNCHES EYE PROJECT APP
A West African sub regional human rights and environmental organization, Human Rights Advancement, Development and Advocacy Centre (HURIDAC) today in Lagos launched a Election and Youth Engagement "EYE" project App during a one day capacity workshop on electoral engagements for youths in tertiary institutions in Lagos State.
The event attracted a large number of youths drawn from institutions of higher learning in Lagos State, notably University of Lagos, Lagos State University, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, as well as faith based youth organizations and the media, among others.
The EYE project manager Ms Mfon Enoidem in welcoming participants to the one day training, emphasized that the essence of the workshop was to get the youths engaged in the electoral process as well as governance by being societal watchdogs.
She enumerated the goals and vision of the project which is meant to engender the citizens participation in politics by being active players in the political process rather than on the social media and to be able to hold political leaders and parties accountable for their promises.
Mr. Jamiu Ogunsola in his presentation, made it known to the participants that an App for the training of participants in which they would be issued e-certificate at the end of the 3 module course for successful participants to enable them graduate to be trainers of new youth recruits to meet up to the targeted number of youths targeted for in the project.
A major highlight of the training workshop, was the unveiling of the EYE project App by Mr Jamiu Ogunsola, with the objective of assisting in tracking election promises, monitor the electoral process and ensure that votes count.
The one day event which was organized by HURIDAC in partnership with The Nigerian Women Trust Fund, with support from MacArthur foundation also witnessed a question and answer session on a wide range of political and elections issues from the participants.
