Ounje Eko Food Discount Market Begins in Lagos
The process for the sale of 25% food discount called Ounje Eko food discount market by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration in Lagos State commenced and is presently going on well at Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School Agege today Sunday 17th March 2024.
The centers are witnessing a huge turnout of Lagosians who are out to take advantage of the 25% food discount market for Lagosians by the Lagos State government.
Our correspondent who visited this center among several others scattered across the state, reported that the process at this centre started well at the scheduled time of 11am, though from our findings, some of the buyers who thronged this centre complained of poor start and the poor crowd control mechanism.
Our team witnessed the presence of the men and officers of the Nigeria police force, NSCDC and the state neighbourhood security agency who are all on ground to maintain law and order had a tough time controlling the huge crowd who were impatient and tried to outdo one another in securing the purchase of the goods for sale.
Available for sale are rice, beans, garri, egg, bread, tomato and pepper which were sold at a discounted rate of 25% and there is a ceiling to the quantity ofeach of the items that a buyer could purchase through a ticket mechanism which is obtainable by POS transaction or cash payments.
By and large, this is the first day of the Ounje Eko food discount market across Lagos State and it is expected that as the process continues from next weekend of Saturday and Sunday, that the process will become smoother and less stressful.
From our observations, this is a commendable exercise meant to cushion the economic times of Lagosians by the Lagos State government and it is expected that other states will take a cue to replicate and bring succour to the economic reality confronting our people.
