Sixty-five years ago, on the 1st of October 1960, Nigeria lifted her green and white flag to the skies and declared her independence with hope in her eyes and strength in her heart. Today, six and a half decades later, we stand not only as Africa’s most populous nation but as a people defined by resilience, diversity, and possibility.


Nigeria’s story is one of struggles and triumphs. From the days of nation-building and civil strife, through seasons of military rule and democracy, our people have continued to rise above adversity. We have faced economic storms, insecurity, and political challenges, yet the spirit of the Nigerian remains unbroken.


Sixty-five years is not just about the years that have passed, but about the lessons we have learned. It is about the creativity of our youth, the strength of our women, the wisdom of our elders, and the tireless determination of everyday Nigerians who make the nation breathe with life and culture.

Our music, literature, films, and innovations echo across the world, reminding everyone that Nigeria is not just a country, but a force of influence. Our diversity, though sometimes tested, remains our greatest strength , Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and the over 400 ethnic groups that paint the tapestry of one Nigeria.


As we celebrate this milestone, we are called to reflect, to renew our hope, and to rededicate ourselves to building the Nigeria of our dreams,  a nation where justice, equity, peace, and prosperity are not ideals on paper but realities in the lives of her people.
