LASUSU NEWLY ELECTED EXECUTIVES PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO THE VICE-CHANCELLOR
The newly elected leaders of the Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU), on Monday, 29th September 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, and the University Management at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, 6th Floor, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
The delegation was led by the Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs Division, Dr Fatai Abiodun-Abatan, who introduced the new leaders of the Students' Union and highlighted the purpose of the visit as an avenue to formally present them to the University Management and to foster continuous partnership between the administration and the Students' Union.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, warmly welcomed the newly elected LASUSU leaders and congratulated them on their emergence through a successful electoral process.
Professor Olatunji-Bello charged them to demonstrate integrity, accountability and responsibility in the discharge of their duties, noting that their positions are a call to service and an opportunity to leave lasting legacies. She further assured the Union of the Management’s continuous support in promoting students’ welfare, academic excellence and peaceful co-existence on campus.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor had requested other members of the University Management to, in turn, counsel, encourage and address the Students' Union leaders on policies of the University. The members of Management unanimously stated that the student leaders should expect constructive dialogue and that their requests would always be well considered within the framework of the University.
Speaking on behalf of the Union, the LASUSU President-elect, Comrade Adebayo Korede Peter, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the Management team for their open-door policy and unrelenting commitment to students’ development. He pledged the readiness of the Union to work harmoniously with the University administration to advance the interests of the students and uphold the values of the institution.
Equally, the Speaker-elect, Rt Hon Ogunbiyi Akorede Joshua echoed the sentiments of the President-elect in his remarks.
The interactive session also provided an opportunity for the Students' Union leaders to present key areas of concern and suggestions aimed at improving students’ academic and social experiences at the University.
In attendance were the Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Academics and Administration, Professors Oseni AFISI and Adenike Omotunde BOYO; the Registrar, Mr Emmanuel A. FANU; the Bursar, Mr Said Babatunde OLAYINKA (represented by Deputy Bursar, Mr Kunle ODUNLAMI); and the University Librarian, Dr Omawumi MAKINDE.
Others in attendance were: Deputy Registrar (Vice-Chancellor's Office), Dr Lateef SHEKONI; Deputy Registrar/Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Lateef SALAMI; Deputy Registrar, Students' Affairs Division, Mr Abdulhameed LAWAL; and others.
The meeting ended on a positive note with a vote of thanks from the LASUSU Public Relations Officer-elect, Comrade Kolade Abdulmalik AKANO, and group photographs symbolising unity of purpose, mutual respect and a shared vision for a greater Lagos State University were taken.
